La vita e bella in Venezia
I am sitting on my little rooftop terrace on a glorious sunny morning, reflecting on how serendipitous life can be. On Sunday I was as miserable as anything, with a bad stomach bug, no open pharmacy, a screaming baby in the next room and a rainy jewel of a city which seemed to be overrun by hordes of cattle-like tourist clogging up the soggy narrow streets.
24 hours later Venezia is turning out to be one of the highlights of my journey to date. I have very kindly been moved to another room which has its own private rooftop terrace. Thank you, crying baby. This is sheer bliss!
Yesterday, I caught up with my friend, Jenny and met her travelling companions with whom she is touring Italy. We spent the day in Murano wandering this gorgeous small island best known for its wonderful glass manufacture. We all came home at the end of the day exhausted but happy women. Gaye, Jenny’s friend cooked us a fabulous risotto worthy of any Italian restaurant and we shared several bottles of marvelous Italian wine. La Vita truly is Bella in Venezia!
