Monet's house and garden at Giverny

Bliss!  Visit to Monet’s house and garden was absolutely breathtaking. Despite the absence of waterlilies in the lake and spring blooms in the garden due to spring being delayed this year, the visit nevertheless exceeded my wildest expectations. Monet created a little piece of paradise here, and one of the great advantages of visiting at this time of the year is the small number of tourists. Monet’s house is incredible. Only having seen a few photos of the house in the past, and those mostly in black and white, it was an absolute treat to see it in full colour. I was struck by his unusual use of pastels and colour combinations – buttercup yellow, aqua and pale blue, greens and blues, mauve…. One can see Monet’s love of colour reflected in every room.

I really want to return in summer but for now I am very satisfied with the “winter garden”, the lake and his beautiful house.
